Major Gifts Officer


The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a renowned international affairs think-tank headquartered in Washington, DC with five global centers, is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to work with its DC-based Development team.

The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for working closely with the Chief Development Officer to manage the individual donor program, focusing on the six-figure+ level. Duties will include developing a strategy for major gifts, increasing Board engagement in fundraising, monitoring and refining strategy progress, identifying major gift prospects, cultivating major gift donations, and designing and managing stewardship strategies. This position will also participate in quarterly strategy sessions with senior program staff in DC and center staff across five countries.

Successful candidates will possess significant fundraising experience with a track record of identifying, cultivating, and receiving major gifts. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and possess superb writing and oral communications skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, the ability to work independently and within a team environment, and have experience in policy and research-related institutions, preferably in international affairs.
