Research Scholar and Project Manager

Climate and Geopolitics Project

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, India, and the United States, is seeking a full-time Research Scholar and Project Manager for a new, multi-year, DC-based project on climate change and geopolitics.

The Research Scholar and Project Manager will be responsible for driving day-to-day activities of the project's substantive work. This will include conducting research; open source data collection; and drafting articles and reports. It will also include helping to establish and manage a new international network of scholars on issues related to the likely impact of climate change on geopolitics and understandings of security worldwide.

The candidate will also be responsible for working with colleagues, including Carnegie's communications/events team and other program staff, to produce events and coordinate publications. The position will also assist with project reporting for funders.

A successful applicant will have an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field, at least 3-4 years of relevant research experience, and possess a keen interest in the dynamics of climate change and the political economy and security policy implications of international responses to it. Candidates should be familiar with current and enduring issues in U.S. foreign policy, European and global politics, and strategic issues; a proven interest in drivers of change in the global landscape. The position involves independent research and writing as well as collaborative work with other scholars; a successful candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and an entrepreneurial approach. The candidate will be appointed as a Fellow or Associate Fellow depending upon experience.

Located in Dupont Circle, Washington, DC. Please apply via the Carnegie Endowment website.
