El Erian Scholar

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, India, and the United States, is accepting applications for the El Erian Scholar position at the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center.

The El Erian Scholar will lead research, writing and public speaking on economic challenges facing the MENA region. A focus on inequality is a plus. She/he will be expected to produce a significant body of publishable research, including long-form, peer reviewed work that informs public policy debate She/he will also produce op-eds, blog posts, and other short publications, and will interact with policymakers and government officials, diplomats and international actors, as well as academic and journalistic communities, civil society activists and non-governmental organizations and practitioners, through private/diplomatic briefings, closed workshops, roundtables, public panels, media interviews and other engagements.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics, political economy, political science, or a related field; experience in writing reports, papers, articles and op-eds on different issues; outstanding written and oral communication skills, ability to work with minimum supervision and adapt to changing job requirements.

They must articulate a clear and compelling research agenda and must have a proven ability to conduct in-depth, high quality research and translate research findings into insightful and innovative written outputs. She/he should have native-level English and native Arabic or equivalent fluency.
